🏆 COTY 2023: Blading’s Most Cringe

If 2022 was the year of Tom Moyse, 2023 was all about Brinkmanship.

For years bladers could rest assured. Our nation had not released footage of rollerbladers crashing into innocent pedestrians. I’m sure it’s happened. Billy O’Neil (peace be upon him) even had a close brush with a pedOdestrian in Mesmer Rising. But unlike skateboarding, no pro blader had crash landed into someone trying to simply pass through their town.

That changed with the latest instalment of Plastic Pushers. The film was funny enough without the incident. Cavin claims to hate Adapt, the brand that threatened to break Levi’s legs. Yet despite all his rage, the film’s final section was an impressive promo for… Adapt 🤔. Plastic Pushers made me want to get a pair.

The crash itself — where Joe Zenk’s mizou ends in a body slam on an unsuspecting woman — was not the peak of the cringe. The peak came when Cavin posted the clip to instagram, and tried to “explain it”. Apparently, this wasn’t Cavin’s fault at all. The reason it happened was because “the woman just appeared”:

To violence against women, Plastic Pushers says “blame the women”.

But, wait, I know what you’re thinking. Isn’t Cavin a feminist? He even sells shirts that say “NO SEXISM”.

That’s the cringe bit. As much as Cavin profits from his strange virtue signalling, he can’t take any responsibility for his own actions. Cavin makes a profit by screaming “NO SEXISM”, but when a woman gets knocked to the ground because his film shoot wasn’t safe, he is suddenly blading’s Alec Baldwin.

Fortunately, other Bladers weren’t willing to let this bullshit slide. After pointing out the obvious stupidity of Cavin’s post, the Brinkmanship made even less sense.

Apparently Cavin is okay with knocking women off their bikes, so long as he doesn’t drink beers on camera. How is the sober guy the most brain dead?

So, there you have it. Congratulations Plastic Pushers, for taking out Cunt Of The Year.
