I spoke to Tong about his work founding Weed-A-LICIOUS n’ SKATE SHOP. Suss them out on instagram, and go visit them in Thailand!

Q: What led you to found the world’s first stoner blading store?
A: At first, it was just a small weed shop in an alley. We are about to move in front of the main road so I decided to put all I have love for into one shop😅. It’s like a one stop service for stoner skaters or skaters who also love having a spliff. For me it is just for all the love that I have for. I love smoking cannabis and my life is for skating (blading). Just trying to do what I love and put them all together.

Q: Is it hard to run a skate shop in Thailand, in terms of getting the product in at a good price?
A: In terms of ordering skates it would be a bit difficult since you need to order an amount to get the wholesale price, but we are still trying to figure out a better way or cheaper way to bring in skates. For the accessories, I got some connection with Adam Johnson from Dead Wheels. A.J. from Blade Club will help out with his products, and Richie Eisler could help me out with Powerslide.

Q: Skating in Thailand seems to be really vibrant. And I even remember as a kid seeing a Thai movie (Tom-Yum-Goong)with rad wallrides in it. I think it’s the first time I saw street skating. Who are the Thai skaters that I should know about that I probably don’t?
A: In the movie Tom yum goong, it was Worapoj Boonnim (Note) and Jeerasak Tassorn (Jom) acting as a stunt.
Q: As a Stoner Blader myself, I wish Australia could have a shop like yours. Why do you think Thailand was able to legalise weed? Has there been any pushback to it?
A: A lot of pushback from the government. It is all a political play from the former government. Since the new government (last month), they are trying to put it back to the drug list. In my opinion, it is really really hard to go back, but who knows?
Thailand can be crazy sometimes😆.
